Advancing Building Science with the Curious Builder Collective
Recently, the Curious Builder Collective gathered at Glass Art Design for an event focused on the ever-evolving field of building science. When it comes to efficient home construction, our local Minnesota builders are already leading the nation. However, if there's one topic you should never stop being a student of, it's building science! At this event, we focused on practical applications within the field and best practices going forward to keep growing and learning together!
Curious Builder Collective on Building Science
At its core, building science focuses on the technology and methods used to create efficient, durable, and sustainable buildings. This is an area that is constantly changing. What is top-of-the-line today will be improved upon tomorrow which is part of what makes this such an important topic to cover. While there are so many things to cover, we kept discussions focused on the practicalities of current practices and future advancements. Key questions included:
How far should we push the boundaries of building efficiency?
What practices are sensible and sustainable?
What materials and techniques are currently in use?
The goal was to share knowledge and improve the quality and efficiency of homes in Minnesota, building on the state’s already impressive track record.
Key Takeaways
Key Takeaways
If just one point could summarize the event, it would be the need for continuous evolution and education. The necessity of staying informed and educating clients on this ever-changing but extremely important facet of home building can’t be overstated.
This upcoming generation of builders and homeowners is more knowledgeable and expects an elevated experience, higher performance, and environmentally-centered practices. This shift, driven by increasing public awareness of energy conservation and sustainability among the younger generations, requires custom home-building community leaders to keep learning with them!
Looking Forward
This Curious Builder Collective event also served as a mid-year check-in, allowing us to reflect on both our progress and our challenges over the past 6 months. Having intentional check-in moments helps us stay aligned with our business goals and provide accountability and support to each other!
We want these events to really serve the collective, so we invited the group to share topics for next year's discussion. We got some great ones and can’t wait to explore, learn, and grow together.
Community involvement like this helps all of us level up our businesses and strategies! Right now, we have room to invite 6 new builders into the collective. If this is something you’d be passionate about, reach out today!
The Curious Builder Collective Event
Pat O’Malley hosted the event at Glass Art Design because of the consistent value Andrew LeJeune (the president of Glass Art Design) brings to every event and his passion for the community. The venue offered a unique opportunity to tour Andrew’s business and support a fellow curious builder!
